Get ahead in January sales
January and February can be an excellent time to place a property on the market for many reasons.
Buyers at this time of year are more likely to be serious about a purchase. Furthermore, selling a house now means it is more likely to stand out – and beat the Spring rush in March and April.
Our helpful hints and top tips below will also mean your home makes a great first impression when you welcome prospective buyers out of the cold for viewings.
Firstly, it may sound obvious but ensure all Christmas decorations are down and no traces of festivities are left.
Make sure the heating is on and the house or flat is nice and cosy. Lamps and overhead lighting can create a nice mood. Give a friendly welcome – why not offer a cup of tea or coffee?
Tidy up the front of the house and back garden. Clear any leaves or debris scattered around or even add some cheerful accessories to give some colour during the bleak weather. Perhaps place some evergreen shrubs into large pots, paint or polish the letterbox or doorknocker, or even put a bird feeder in the garden.
Our other golden rules apply too: de-clutter, de-clutter and, yes, de-clutter. Store away out of sight any items such as paperwork, laundry, shoes, toys and so on.
Make sure the house is clean and smells nice too – with some air fresheners or, better still, some flowers too.
You really do never get a second chance to make a good first impression!
