According to the latest figures, the average price of a mid-market property has risen from £80,000 in the year 2000 to £212,000 in 2018 – a rise of 165 per cent.

The report explains the various links between house prices, the availability of credit and the buy-to-let boom.   It also reveals that the greatest price rises were for flats, followed by terraced and then semi-detached properties.
