London house prices 'up since March'

People who are putting up property for sale in London may welcome the release of
new figures produced by the Land Registry.
It found that the value of real estate in the capital increased by
1.6 per cent in April compared with the previous month.
Meanwhile, the annual growth rate recorded in the city was 14.8 per
cent.
Following this gain, the average price of a residence in London
stood at £341,487.
Across England and Wales as a whole, there was a monthly rise in
property values of 0.2 per cent and the typical dwelling stood at
£165,596.
All regions across the two countries saw growth in the average
price of dwellings over the last year, the Land Registry noted,
with London coming out top in this respect.
Last month, the organisation revealed that the value of homes in
March was up 9.7 per cent compared with the same period in
2009.
