Communication is key between tenants and landlords

Tenants and landlords should make sure that they are retaining a
healthy relationship in order to guarantee that any problems which
come up in a tenancy can be easily dealt with, according to one
property expert.
Last week, Total Landlord Insurance said that the main issues in
renting lie with landlords who believe tenants damage their
property, and tenants who think their landlords are taking too long
to solve issues.
Marie Parris, managing director of George Ellis Property Services,
said: "You've got to be in communication, and from a tenant point
of view if they can't pay their rent or are having difficulties the
first port of call needs to be the landlord. A landlord actually
needs to understand their rights."
She said that having good procedures in place can alleviate any
tension between the two parties, which can only be good for both in
the long run whenever issues arise.
